    Guides

    How the statewide layer works.

    What counts as statewide?

A listing earns the Texas tag one of two ways: it serves the whole state in person, like a state agency, or it works fully online, like virtual counseling by video. If a service only covers one metro, it belongs on that city's page instead... the tags keep the directory honest.

    Care that comes to you

The model example is Guiding Hope Counseling: ASL-fluent mental health counseling by video, open to Deaf and hard of hearing Texans 13 and older anywhere in the state. No drive, no waiting room, no interpreter phone tag... the appointment happens in ASL, at home.

    Start with your city

Most Deaf life is local: socials, churches, schools, and interpreters near you. Houston is live on HoustonDeafNetwork.com and Austin is live on its page. The statewide layer fills the gaps between the cities... it does not replace them.

    FAQ

    Is Texas a city page?

No. It is the layer above the cities, for services whose coverage is the whole state. Every listing here also shows on its home city's page when it has one.

How does a service get the Texas tag?

It has to genuinely serve statewide or work fully online. Suggest it below and it goes into the review queue... the tag is checked before anything publishes, and community listings are always free.

    Who runs this?

Echode is a one person community project run by Long Duong(opens Long Duong's homepage in a new tab) in Houston, the same person behind HoustonDeafNetwork. Not a nonprofit, no office, just a directory built to last.

Every Echode city gets the same directory, events, and jobs treatment. Here is where each one stands.
